OSHAWA, ON - Ontario Tech University (UOIT) hosted the Brilliant Catalyst Moonshot Challenge on Thursday, March 5th, 2020.

Budding entrepreneurs, tech prodigies and dreamers from UOIT shared their moonshot ideas to a panel of professionals, industry moguls and tech experts from across the province. These teams vied for acceptance into the Brilliant Incubator Program and a cash prize of $5,000 (to help their moonshots off the ground).

Moonshots are ideas that fundamentally change the world. Moonshots are radical. Moonshots are game-changers. Moonshots are risky.
And Lorenzo Escobal, knows a thing or two about moonshot ideas. In 2011, while he was still a student attending UOIT, he founded his first company Inception Auto Detailing. Through diligent study, hard work, out-of-the-box thinking, and fierce loyalty to high-quality service, Escobal turned his moonshot into a reality.
“My education and experience played a large role in my success; giving me the tools and confidence to experiment and challenge the industry,” said Escobal. “I’m thrilled to share my expertise and insights with today’s youth.”

Escobal and the panel carefully considered the pitches and awarded the top prize to two very exciting ideas: Jonah Glass’ (@jglasshir) eSport data processing application and Mackenzie Collins’ (@_majormackenzie) revolutionary recycling and materials retrieval program.
“It’s important to give back to the community and to help inspire future generations of students,” said Escobal. “Don’t be afraid of the ideas you have; the sky’s limit.”
